British beats have rarely been in ruder health. The latest musical sons of dubstep, rave 2.0, nu-disco, drum & bass, UK funky, broken beat and host of genres that have yet to acquire a sobriquet, have stormed club culture’s barricades and formed a much needed resistance against 2010’s one chord wonders.
Jostling their way to the front are NAPT, aka Tomek and Ashley, the multi-award winning electronic music duo that has spent the past 12 months watching their popularity rise ever higher. Following national chart entries in the UK and Australia, the pair have announced the launch of their new label, Red Sugar Records.
NAPT’s first releases were remixes for Sony and Def Jam, which caught the ears of the blogging community who later helped their reworkings of Daft Punk and Miike Snow to the top spots on Hype Machine (and who coined the term ‘N-Funk’ to describe their melting pot sound). Radio play from Radio 1, Kiss, and London’s pirate stations preceded all round acclaim from the music press for the singles ‘Gotta Have More Cowbell’ and ‘Make My Day’.
Their online mixtape series has grown to such an extent that their latest ‘Live In The Mix’ release has garnered 40,000+ downloads. As DJ's, NAPT have headlined and performed shows across the globe, from Fabric to Glastonbury Festival in the UK, Villa in Perth to Mighty in San Francisco and beyond.
