Lifelike
is one of the most exciting French dance artists in a
generation – and let’s face it, France has had a few. An
uncompromising figure who has rarely – if ever - courted
media attention, his almost subterranean profile has
seen him maintain his position as the archetypal
hipster’s choice, from Radio 1’s specialist shows to the
world’s biggest blogs.
‘Love Emulator’ and ‘Silicon Love’ form Lifelike’s
latest single, released on his new label, Computer
Science. The first original productions for some time,
they follow last year’s remixes for Moby and La Roux,
and precede forthcoming remixes for Vitalic, Pony Pony
Run Run and Empire Of The Sun.
The man behind classic cuts including ‘Black Chess’,
‘Radio 84’, ‘Adventure’ ‘Discopolis’ (with Kris Menace),
‘So Electric’, and his last single, ‘Sunset’, has
previously released on seminal labels including Alan
Braxe’s Vulture, and Wall Of Sound. Though part of an
extended musical family that includes Braxe, Justice,
Daft Punk, and Ed Banger’s Pedro Winter, Laurent has
always occupied a unique position at the vanguard of the
French electronic movement.
